OPEN INNOVATION
The open innovation methodology within the framework of DG Connect’s Startup Europe Awards and implemented since 2016 by Finnova, the European foundation for innovation funding.


WHAT IS STARTUP EUROPE ACCELERATHON?

Startup Europe Accelerathon aims to find innovative ideas eligible for funding from the European Union, such as the LIFE Programme, Green Deal, Horizon 2020, Next Generation EU.
Accelerathon follows the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals purposes, contributing with each challenge to the SDG proposed.

This open innovation programme starts with the launching of a challenge, then teams are formed and compete with the support and mentoring from experts. In addition, all the participants get training in European Funds on Finnova’s gamified platform, the EU Training Platform.
There is an international jury and a percentage of public votes to decide who is the winner in a final ceremony whose prize is an Acceleration Ticket to submit the project to a European call.
Possibility of receiving between 1 million and 7 million euros of financing for your project.

TRAINING
Learn how to submit a project to a European programme through the EU Training Platform.
MENTORING
Experts from the Finnova Foundation will mentor each team during the program.
FUNDING
The prize is an Acceleration Ticket that ranges from 1 million to 7 million euro to submit the project to a European call.

Startup Europe is a European Commission’s initiative to connect,high-tech startups, scaleups, investors, accelerators, corporate network, universities and media.


STARTUP EUROPE AWARDS
It is an initiative of the European Comission’s DG CONNECT implemented by the Finnova Foundation, that has been supported by the European Parliament, the Committee of the Regions and the Economic and Social Committee since 2016. SEUAs are open innovation to identify disruptive startups that promote public-private collaboration and raise awareness of the importance of self-entrepreneurship as a driving force for job creation. In addition to forge alliances that help achieve United Nations’ SDGs and European Green Deal’s actions, contributing to circular economy, sustainable tourism and the fight against climate change.
STARTUP EUROPE ACCELERATOR
It is the European accelerator created by the Finnova Foundation in 2011. This EU accelerator of regional and national accelerators, business incubators and vertical entrepreneurship programmes seeks to help startups and scaleups to access EU opportunities to receive education and training, internationalise their project and access the market through European projects, get subsidies, do networking, receive legal advice and develop international marketing strategies.
